Panchroma™ PLA Refill

Panchroma PLA refills are a more sustainable and flexible option for 3D makers who want to reduce waste and reuse their favorite spools. By offering Panchroma PLA without attached cardboard spools, Polymaker allows users to load their chosen colors directly onto reusable or AMS-compatible master spools. The refill format helps minimize packaging materials while maintaining the same print quality and color variety that the Panchroma series is known for.

Why Choose Refills

Using filament refills instead of fully spooled rolls minimizes waste and reduces shipping volume. Each box contains only the filament coil, helping users keep costs down and storage simpler. It’s also ideal for makers who prefer specific spool systems such as Bambu Lab or AnyCubic’s reusable spools.

If you don’t yet have a compatible master spool, Polymaker provides a printable design so you can make your own right at home.

AMS and Spool Compatibility

Panchroma PLA refills are designed to work with common master spool standards, including Bambu Lab’s AMS reusable spools. The filament coils are sized and coiled consistently to ensure smooth feeding and tangle-free operation in automated filament-changing systems.

Polymaker plans to release its own official reusable spool in the near future. In the meantime, users are encouraged to try the printable design provided, which matches the refill format exactly.

FAQ

What is a refill spool and how is it different from regular filament?

Panchroma™ Refill is a low-waste version of our premium PLA filament, designed for reusable spool systems. Instead of discarding a spool after each roll, you simply reload a refill spool onto a reusable core to reduce packaging and material waste while keeping the same Polymaker quality.

Are Panchroma PLA refills compatible with Bambu reusable spools?

Yes. They fit Bambu Lab’s reusable spools as well as other master spool systems including Creality, Prusa, and Sunlu Reusable Spools.

Does it require RFID to work with the Bambu AMS?

No. Simply select the generic PLA profile on your Bambu printer. Panchroma™ Refill extrudes smoothly and consistently without RFID tagging or special adjustments.

How do I load the refill onto a reusable spool?

Align the refill spool with your reusable spool hub, secure both sides evenly, and check that the filament path moves freely before printing.

Will it tangle or unwind during printing?

Each refill spool is precisely wound and tension-controlled to prevent tangling. If the outer strap is removed early, pull out a short length before loading to maintain proper winding.

How should I store the filament to prevent moisture issues?

Every spool is factory-dried, vacuum-sealed, and packed with desiccant. Store it in a dry box or sealed container after opening. If exposed to humidity, re-dry before printing to restore optimal performance.

Are the colors consistent between spools?

Yes, though gradient and dual-silk finishes naturally show slight shifts in tone or transition length. For multi-spool projects, order from the same batch to maintain consistent appearance.

What print settings should I use?

Panchroma™ Refill prints beautifully using standard PLA settings. For silk finishes, reduce cooling slightly to enhance shine. Recommended settings: 190–220 °C nozzle, 50–60 °C bed.

Why choose a refill over traditional spools?

Refills offer a sustainable, space-saving, and low-waste solution without sacrificing quality. By reusing your spool, you minimize plastic waste while enjoying the same vibrant colors, smooth extrusion, and reliable Polymaker performance.
