# Polymaker™ ABS Pro

**Professional Grade ABS**\
Polymaker™ ABS Pro is an engineering-grade ABS filament developed for users who require more performance than standard ABS can provide. With enhanced heat resistance, strength, and impact resistance, ABS Pro is the ideal upgrade for demanding functional printing applications.

**High Speed Printability**\
Validated for print speeds up to 250 mm/s, ABS Pro enables increased productivity while maintaining excellent part quality and reliability. Optimized for enclosed printing environments, it delivers fast, consistent results.

**High Temp Performance**\
With a Heat Deflection Temperature (HDT) of 101.4°C at 1.8 MPa and 106.4°C at 0.45 MPa, ABS Pro maintains dimensional stability in elevated-temperature environments. It is well suited for functional prototypes, end-use enclosures, brackets, clips, jigs, and custom printer components where standard ABS may fall short.

**Built To Last**\
ABS Pro combines high strength, stiffness, and impact resistance for demanding functional applications. With a tensile strength of 34.94 MPa, flexural strength of 60.05 MPa, and unnotched impact strength of 30.48 kJ/m², ABS Pro delivers the durability, rigidity, and toughness required for load-bearing and functional parts..

**Reliable Under Load**\
Improved creep resistance helps ABS Pro resist gradual deformation under sustained mechanical stress, providing dependable long-term performance in structural and mechanically demanding applications.

**14 Vibrant Color Options**\
Available in Regular, Gradient, Galaxy, and more, ABS Pro combines professional-grade engineering performance with a versatile selection of aesthetic options without compromise.

## Print Tips

This material can print on any printer that is enclosed and has a build plate that can reach 100˚C. It also requires an all-metal hotend that can reach above 250˚C.

* The hotter and slower you print, the better your layer adhesion will be.
* Heat up your build plate to 100-110˚C for 10 minutes before starting your print so that the chamber has time to heat up.
* If you are printing slow and hot, you will get better layer adhesion but may experience uglier overhangs. You will battle between great layer adhesion and great overhang quality.
* Magigoo Original works as a great product for bed adhesion if you are having issues.
* Keep your cooling fan off if you are having layer adhesion or build plate adhesion issues.
* Can be smoothed or welded via acetone.

## FAQ

<details>

<summary><strong>Which 3D printer can print Polymaker™ ABS Pro?</strong></summary>

Depending on the size of the models you are trying to print, Polymaker™ ABS Pro can required enclosed 3D printer, or even actively heated chamber.

An actively heated chamber is not required but you will need to let the chamber heat up before printing. This means any enclosed printer with a hotend that can reach up to 300˚C can work.

Using proper bed adhesion can also help printing larger parts without deformation/warping issue.

\
We can recommend Magigoo or BuildTak as adhesive and bed surface options.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Do I need an enclosure to print ABS Pro?</strong></summary>

Yes. ABS Pro requires an enclosed chamber of 50°C or higher for best results.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Does ABS Pro require a hardened nozzle?</strong></summary>

No. ABS Pro contains no abrasive fillers and prints well with standard nozzles.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Do I need to dry ABS Pro before printing?</strong></summary>

Yes. We recommend drying ABS Pro at 70°C for 6 hours before printing or if absorbed moisture.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Will the spools work in an AMS?</strong></summary>

Yes! We have redesigned the edges of our spools so all Polymaker products will now spin great in the AMS.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>What is the difference between ABS Pro and ABS Max?</strong></summary>

ABS Pro offers broad printer compatibility and high print speeds up to 250 mm/s, with an HDT of 103°C and a required chamber temperature of 50°C+. For even higher thermal performance, ABS Max pushes the HDT to 114°C with best-in-class creep resistance, but requires an actively heated chamber of 65°C+ and prints up to 200 mm/s. Choose ABS Pro for versatility and speed - choose ABS Max when you need the ultimate thermal performance.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Is ABS Pro stronger than standard ABS?</strong></summary>

Yes. ABS Pro offers higher heat resistance, improved creep resistance, and better overall mechanical performance compared to standard ABS.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Is this material food safe?</strong></summary>

Unfortunately we do not have any data on whether this material is food safe. As of now, no 3D printing material on the market is FDA food safe compliant. In order to be certified as food safe, the actual printed object needs to be certified — not the base material. The shape, print environment, and many other factors go into obtaining a food safety certificate.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>How should ABS Pro be stored?</strong></summary>

Store in a cool, dry environment away from moisture and UV light. Use of a PolyBox™ or PolyDryer™ is strongly recommended during both storage and printing.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://wiki.polymaker.com/polymaker-products/polymaker-filaments/prime-materials/abs-and-asa/polymaker-tm-abs-pro.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
